§ Mr. GowThe Housing and Building Control Bill will give many more public sector tenants the opportunity to buy their own homes. It will also give a right to shared ownership to those who cannot afford outright purchase.
We shall continue to encourage low-cost home ownership initiatives by local authorities in co-operation with the private sector. These initiatives have helped public sector tenants and those on the waiting list to become home owners.
