HC Deb 07 March 1984 vol 55 c589W
Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will undertake discussions with the Forestry Commission with a view to (a) publishing a policy for cycling in forests and (b) supporting the creation of model cycle routes through forests.

Mr. John MacKay

The Forestry Commission is already developing a policy that will allow pedal cycling without a permit in forests under certain conditions. The policy will be given suitable publicity as soon as the details have been worked out. The first cycle route was opened last year in Achray forest, near Aberfoyle, and several others are at the planning stage.
