Mr. Frank Field

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will detail the grants given by his Department to each voluntary organisation during 1982–83; which of these had their grants reduced in 1983–84; and by how much.

Additionally, an amount of grant is allocated each year to the deficit funding of more than 300 hostels and similar accommodation schemes, administered by some 200 voluntary organisations, providing places for ex-offenders. £2.894 million was spent for this purpose in 1982–83 and £3.6 million has been allocated in 1983–84.

A further allocation: is made in respect of once-for-all grants to voluntary organisations providing day facilities for ex-offenders. £530,000 was spent in 1982–83 and £540,000 has been allocated in 1983–84.
