§ 59. Mr. Hillasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied that British universities are training sufficient graduates in electronics and electrical engineering to meet the demands of the communications industry.
§ Mr. BrookeUniversities provide a range of courses in electronic and electrical engineering both at first degree and postgraduate level. Entrants to such courses have increased significantly as a result of the initiative announced in December 1982 by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science to expand higher education provision in information technology subjects. While the demands of the communications and other industries for highly skilled manpower are kept under continuing review, my right hon. Friend has not been made aware of any specific deficiency in this area.
