§ Mr. DunnMy right hon. Friend considered these proposals most carefully on their individual merits taking account of all relevant matters including his policies, the educational and expenditure factors involved, and the arguments put by objectors. The proposals were published in December 1982; since then those opposing what is proposed have expressed their views through the submission of objections in accordance with the statutory process, have put their views to my predecessor in a meeting in March 1983, and have submitted various letters and submissions. My right hon. Friend sees no purpose, therefore in a further meeting.
