HC Deb 05 March 1984 vol 55 c480W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for Northecri Ireland whether he has discussed with the Government bf the Republic of Ireland the possibility of a mutual agreement to (a) proscribe or (b) restrict the activities of Provisional Sinn Fein; what consideration he has given to the recent proposed initiatives by the Republic's Government in this regard; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Prior

The Government will continue to examine in the light of circumstances in the United Kingdom, whether any additional measures are needed to combat terrorism. It attaches great importance to effective security co-operation with the authorities of the Republic of Ireland, and will take note of any comparable measures which the Irish Government may introduce.
