HC Deb 05 March 1984 vol 55 c416W
Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what central Government funding has been made available to the Merseyside passenger transport authority in each of the years from 1976 to date.

Mrs. Chalker

Central Government funding in support of transport is made available to the Merseyside passenger transport executive in the form of fuel duty rebate and new bus grant. New bus grant is being phased out and will end on 31 March 1984.

In addition, the Merseyside county council receives transport supplementary grant (TSG) in support of transport expenditure on capital schemes, road maintenance, bus and rail revenue support and other items. TSG supplements the county council's revenue from rates and rates support grant.

All the relevent figures are set out in the following table.
