HC Deb 05 March 1984 vol 55 c470W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland who is responsible under the Education (Publication and Consultation Etc.) Scotland Regulations 1981 for informing parents and other interested parties of known deficiencies in a consultative procedure.

Mr. Allan Stewart

There is no statutory requirement that parents and other interested parties be informed of known deficiencies in the consultative procedures relating to proposals for school closures. It is open to my right hon. Friend, under section 70 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980, to investigate such deficiencies and to require action to be taken to rectify these.
