§ Mr. Allan StewartThere is no statutory requirement that parents and other interested parties be informed of known deficiencies in the consultative procedures relating to proposals for school closures. It is open to my right hon. Friend, under section 70 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980, to investigate such deficiencies and to require action to be taken to rectify these.
