asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether any licences issued under Part 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to allow the killing of cormorants in Scotland between 1981 and 1983 have not now expired; and if so how many licences are still in force and what localities do they cover.

All licences issued prior to 1st January 1984 have expired.

How many licences have been issued in Scotland in the current year under Part I of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 which allow cormorants to be shot and what localities do these licences cover.

In the period to 22nd February 1984, 14 licences to shoot cormorants were issued—three in Tayside Region, five in Strathclyde Region, four in Highland Region, one in Borders Region and one in Dumfries and Galloway.
