HC Deb 02 March 1984 vol 55 c351W
Mr. Prescott

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what progress has been made in arranging the replacement of current bus operational radio frequencies and current bus radio equipment as required by the world administrative radio conference of 1979; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

I have been asked to reply.

The radio frequencies at 105—108MHz currently used by the bus and coach operators will be used for broadcasting services in the United Kingdom and abroad by 1995. It will therefore be necessary for the existing users to transfer to another frequency band before that date. Arrangements are being made for replacement frequencies for the bus and coach operators to be found in the band 174—225MHz. This band will be available for land mobile services from the beginning of 1985. Detailed frequency assignments will start as soon as practicable in advance of this.
