HC Deb 01 March 1984 vol 55 c334W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list in the Official Report the matters taken into account when tenants apply under the mobility scheme to move to areas where jobs may be available.

Sir George Young

The national mobility scheme is a voluntary arrangement between local housing authorities to help people who have a pressing need to move for job or social reasons. Housing authorities accepting nominees on employment grounds are recommended by the national mobility office to require corroborative evidence that nominees already have a job to go to in the area to which they want to move.
