HC Deb 01 March 1984 vol 55 cc335-6W
50. Mr. Higgins

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the organisations which were consulted by his Department in preparing a draft code of practice for registered care homes; and what arrangements his Department is making for discussion of the draft code by those affected by it.

Mr. Newton

This code of practice is being drawn up by an independent working party instituted by the Centre for Policy on Ageing, Nuffield Lodge Studio, Regents Park, London NW1 4RS. The working party is made up of people experienced in the care of the elderly and other dependent groups. Being independent, it has decided its own procedure, but we know that it has been consulting representative bodies in the course of drafting the code. For details of this, I suggest that my right hon. Friend makes inquiries of the working party whose secretariat is provided by the Centre for Policy on Ageing.
