Mr. A. Cecil Walkerasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if the Eastern health and social services board for Northern Ireland is authorised to make deductions from employees' salaries in respect of private insurance schemes and building societies promoted by outside interests, for subsequent forwarding in total amounts to the companies concerned.
§ Mr. Chris Patten[pursuant to his reply, 28 February 1984, c. 143–44]: The Eastern health and social services board makes deductions from salary at the request of individual employees for forwarding to approved staff associations. Such deductions may reflect arrangements made by such an association with private firms for the provision of financial services to its members.
