HC Deb 01 March 1984 vol 55 cc274-5W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) how much tax has been paid in total on wages earned on the United Kingdom continental shelf; and what proportion of this was paid by British citizens;

(2) how much United Kingdom tax has been paid on wages earned by United States citizens employed in the United Kingdom North sea oil and gas developments.

Mr. Moore

[pursuant to his reply, 28 February 1984, c. 125]: I regret that no estimates can be made. The available information relates only to all employees of employers whose main activity is the exploration for and extraction of petroleum and natural gas, and does not distinguish those employed offshore, nor the nationality of employees.
