Mr. Dover

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will indicate the level of investment by his Department in Lancashire through other means than the rate support grant or the transport supplementary grant.

In the last full year, 1982–83, excluding rate support grant, a total of £40.7 million was paid by my Department to Lancashire county council and district councils in Lancashire. Payments were as follows:
