HC Deb 01 March 1984 vol 55 cc317-8W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) if he will extend the terms of reference of the Kincora inquiry to include investigating the possible links between the boys' home and the murder of 10-year-old Brian McDermott in 1973; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will extend the terms of reference of the Kincora inquiry to include investigating a possible link

between the boys' home and terrorist activities emanating from a paramilitary organisation known as Tara; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Prior

No. I refer the hon. Member to my statement to the House on 18 January, where I made clear the scope of the terms of reference. The criminal aspects of the various allegations which have been made have already been investigated by the Royal Ulster Constabulary and by Sir George Terry, chief constable of Sussex, at the time of his inquiry.
