§ Mr. WaddingtonIt is estimated that in Bangladesh in the autumn of 1983, those who had been refused entry clearance on a previous occasion accounted for about a half of the new applicants for immediate settlement put into the main queue and for about a fifth of all new applications for immediate settlement, including those put into the priority queues. Had similar proportions applied throughout the 12 months ending September 1983, about 1,800 persons who had been refused entry clearance on a previous occasion, are likely to have applied in these 12 months for immediate settlement in Bangladesh. Estimates for other periods and other countries are not available.
