§ Mr. HurdThe provision of mutual aid by the Metropolitan police to other police forces in connection with the miners' industrial dispute has resulted in a daily average reduction of 540 in the number of officers available for duties within the Metropolitan police district, although the actual figure has varied widely. This represents 2 per cent. of the total strength of the force.
