§ Mr. John PattenThe National Health Service Act 1977 requires community health councils to represent the interests in the health service of the public in their districts. The National Health Service (Community Health Councils) Regulations 1973 (as amended in 1982) require councils to keep under review the operation of the health service in their districts and make recommendations for the improvement of services, or otherwise advise on such matters relating to the operation of the health service in their districts as they think fit.
