HC Deb 26 June 1984 vol 62 c377W
Mr. Alex Carlile

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has considered the article, Roehampton report, at page 10 of volume 1 for 1984 of the bulletin of the Judicial Studies Board; and, in particular, whether he proposes to introduce legislation to enable judges to pass wholly and partly suspended youth custody orders.

Mr. Mellor

I have read the article with interest. We are about to open consultations as to whether the courts should have power to suspend sentences of youth custody.
