Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the members of the Youth Committee for Northern Ireland whom he has appointed since May 1979, together with their occupational background and political and religious affiliations, where known, and their geographical base; and if he will give the same information about those whom they replaced.

Mr. Scott

The Northern Ireland Youth Committee is constituted under the Recreation and Youth Service (Northern Ireland) Order 1973 and each committee is appointed for a four-year term. The current term began in January 1982. Replacements occur only when vacancies arise during the term.

Details of appointments are as follows. I do not believe it would be appropriate for me to publicise further personal details of members.

Appointments between May 1979 and October 1981:

  • Mr. J. K. Walls, County Tyrone, to replace Mr. H. Frazer, Belfast.
  • Rev. W. Good, Belfast, to replace Miss A. Dufton, Belfast.
  • Mr. R. Johnston, County Antrim, to replace Mrs. E. Kennedy, County Antrim.
  • Mr. A. J. Morrow, Belfast, to replace Mr. R. W. C. Kirkwood, County Antrim.
  • Ms. C. McCavara, Belfast, to replace Miss A. O'Neill, Belfast.

Appointments in January 1982 when the Committee was constituted for a further four-year term:
