HC Deb 26 June 1984 vol 62 c411W
Miss Boothroyd

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when the Rowley Regis community hospital, Sandwell, was originally planned to be completed; when it will now be completed; what was the originally planned cost; what is his current estimate of the total cost; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

In June 1982 the regional health authority envisaged that the Rowley Regis community hospital would be completed by June 1989.

The region's draft operational capital programme for the 10 years to 1993–94, which is to be reviewed, recommends a March 1988 start on site, with a probable completion date of December 1990.

The overall cost estimate in June 1982 was £8,310,000 at May 1981 prices. In November 1983 this cost was reassessed at £8,731,000 at the same prices, following a reappraisal of building oncosts.
