HL Deb 26 June 1984 vol 453 c902WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, and if so in what circumstances, a prisoner has the right to an adjournment of disciplinary proceedings in order to seek legal advice on the charges he faces.

Lord Elton

While it is open to a prisoner to seek legal advice on any disciplinary charge, our view is that it is for the adjudicating body to determine whether an application for adjournment for this purpose should be granted.
