Mr. Pike

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what additional allocations have been available to health authorities in the north-west to help deal with the increase in drug addiction.

Mr. John Patten

Under the Government's central funding initiative for services for drug misusers, funding totalling £324,173 has been made available to health authorities in the north-western region and grants totalling £151,094 have been allocated to voluntary organisations in the region. Details of individual projects are as follows:
