HC Deb 26 June 1984 vol 62 cc424-6W
Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has for the use of the site and buildings at the Dreadnought hospital in Greenwich if the hospital facilities were moved to St. Thomas's hospital; and whether he is considering alternative use as a training establishment for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation naval officers.

Mr. Lee

The Dreadnought hospital at Greenwich is owned by Greenwich hospital, which currently leases it to the Department of Health and Social Security. Decisions on the use of Dreadnought hospital if it becomes available for alternative use are for the director of Greenwich hospital. The MOD is considering whether, in such circumstances, it might seek to use the Dreadnought

I am satisfied that the arrangements made for internal audit in the Ministry of Defence entirely meet the nine primary standards promulgated by Her Majesty's Treasury in the Government internal audit. The director general of management audit, who is head of internal audit, is also responsible for central management services and staff

hospital buildings for additional instructional facilities and accommodation for the Royal Naval college which adjoins it. The MOD has no proposals for its use as a training establishment for NATO naval officers.
