§ Mr. NewtonIt became clear at the end of last year that the volume of applications for grants in 1984–85 would make it necessary, despite the increased sum available, to look carefully at the overall pattern of our grants before making individual decisions. Since then applicants who have inquired about new and renewed grants have been informed of the likelihood that this would give rise to some delay.
