Mr. Ron Brownasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will increase the staff at the British embassy in Warsaw to speed up the procedure for the issuing of holiday visas to Poles visiting the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. WhitneyThe problem of delays in the issue of visas to Polish citizens applying in Warsaw to come to this country has recently been examined in conjunction with the Home Department. We hope shortly to introduce new visa issuing procedures in Warsaw which will considerably reduce the waiting time for visas. Arrangements are in hand to make additional staff resources available to process the backlog of applications which has built up in recent months.
