HC Deb 21 June 1984 vol 62 cc205-6W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how much money has been spent on new roads in each region of England since 1973.

Mrs. Chalker

The table gives the information requested for both national and local authority roads, for the years 1974–75 to 1982–83 inclusive. Before 1974–75 central records of spending on roads do not distinguish between economic planning regions. The figures given for 1982–83 are provisional to the extent that information on local authority roads spending is still incomplete, while for 1983–84 there is as yet no central information on local authority roads spending.
