The information available centrally relates to the average time spent on remand in custody by all untried prisoners and is published annually in "Prison Statistics, England and Wales". Table 2(g) of the issue for 1982 (Cmnd. 9027) gives the estimate of the average time that year as 41 days for males and 26 days for females.
