HC Deb 21 June 1984 vol 62 cc203-4W
Mr. Bill Walker

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland if he will give details of vacant posts in procurators fiscal offices in Scotland; and how many of the posts have remained vacant for three months, six months and over 12 months, respectively.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

As at 1 June 1984 there were 26 vacant posts in the procurator fiscal offices in Scotland (22 full-time and four part-time). These comprised of nine legal posts, six administrative posts, nine typists and two others.

The administrative posts have been vacant for relatively short periods (none for as much as three months) but three of the legal posts have been vacant for more than six months. Because of recruiting difficulties two legal posts are likely to remain unfilled for more than 12 months.
