HC Deb 21 June 1984 vol 62 cc263-4W
Mr. Murphy

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what action his Department is taking to publicise local enterprise week in 1984 and the guide to Government advice and schemes "How to Make Your Business Grow".

Mr. Norman Lamont

To publicise local enteprise week, I have written individually to local organisations throughout the country such as chambers of commerce, local enterprise agencies and local authorities to enlist their support. In addition, the Central Office of Information has been instrumental in co-ordinating events at the regional level and the Department's small firms centres have actively helped to promote, and participate in, local events. In all, over 350 separate events are being organised, including seminars, exhibitions, open days, local radio items, phone-ins and other local activities.

The booklet "How to Make Your Business Grow" was extensively publicised during our national publicity campaign in 1983. An updated edition has been published for 1984 which is available to inquirers through the small firms centres and local enterprise agencies.
