HC Deb 21 June 1984 vol 62 c261W
Mr. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish in the Official Report a list of new hospitals which opened in Scotland in (a) 1980, (b) 1981, (c) 1982 and (d) 1983, giving the total number of beds gained in each case.

Mr. John MacKay

The following is a list (based on information held centrally) of new hospital buildings, mostly on the sites of existing hospitals, brought into use in the years requested. The total bed complement of the accommodation is also given: it should be noted that not all the beds were necessarily brought into use in the given years. It should also be noted that many of the beds provided are replacements for outdated facilities elsewhere and are not additions to the overall complement.
