§ Mr. BrookeLecturers in further and higher education are not classified by the Department's statistics in respect of their terms of contract. In the academic year 1982–83 there were 74,476 full-time lecturers in further education in England and 41,994 in universities in Great Britain. Part-time lecturers numbered 21,937—full-time equivalent—and 2,266, respectively. These numbers do not reflect contractual status.
