§ Lord James Douglas-Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will urge the Building Research Establishment to complete its report on the Blackburn Orlit houses in west Edinburgh by the end of July and to make public its findings by then.
§ Mr. AncramThe Building Research Establishment is aware of the need to complete its report as speedily as possible. There has been difficulty in surveying a sufficient number of these houses, because of the lack of empty properties. Samples are now being taken in occupied houses which requires exceptional care to ensure minimum disturbance to the occupiers. Every effort will be made to complete the survey and to make the record publicly available by the end of July.
