§ Mr. BrookeThe amount of the 1984–85 grant in aid to the Medical Research Council (£117.152 million) was decided by my right hon. Friend in the light of the advice which he received from the Advisory Board for the Research Councils and which has since been published as "Scientific Opportunities and the Science Budget 1983", a copy of which is available in the Library. My right hon. Friend does not intend to increase it. The amount of the council's grant in aid for 1985–86 will be decided later in the year.
