HC Deb 14 June 1984 vol 61 c567W
Mr. John Mark Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will now grant district general hospital status to Solihull hospital.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The West Midlands regional health authority decided about three years ago that a district general hospital should be developed at Solihull. It envisaged that it would have a total of about 500 beds. It is now discussing its draft capital programme with district authorities and expects in the next few months to make final decisions on the extent to which it will be able to accommodate major schemes proposed for the various districts, according to relative priority.
