§ Mr. Nicholsonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what criteria control the running of job markets in Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. ButlerThe criteria which control the running of job markets in Northern Ireland are based upon a clearly defined management plan. Strategic aims are to
- (i) provide an all-age guidance and placement service for both employment and training for job seekers and job changers and to assist employers to meet their manpower needs;
- (ii) provide a careers service to young people at school in support of schools careers programmes and to place and monitor young people in the youth training programme; and
- (iii) operate the service in accordance with accepted recommendations of the Rayner report on the employment service.
