HC Deb 14 June 1984 vol 61 cc562-3W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will initiate a study into the computerisation of hospital waiting lists.

Mr. John Patten

It is for each district to decide for itself on the usefulness of the computerisation of its waiting lists. The Department is, however, considering with the West Midlands regional health authority a pilot project to evaluate the effectiveness in reducing waiting times of supplying general practitioners with information about waiting lists in their districts, derived from computerised systems.
