asked the Prime Minister how many Ministers of the Crown have visited Cyprus and met Ministers of the Government of Cyprus since May 1979; and when such visits took place.

The Prime Minister

The following Ministers have visited Cyprus and met Ministers of the Government of Cyprus in the period to which the hon. Member refers:—

Date Name and position held at time of visit
April 1980 The Rt. Hon. Sir Ian Gilmour, Lord Privy Seal.
December 1982 Sir Hugh Rossi, Minister of State, Department of Health and Social Security.
September 1983 Mrs. Peggy Fenner, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
September 1983 Mr. Richard Luce, Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
October 1983 The Rt. Hon. the Baroness Young, Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
November 1983 The Rt. Hon. Paul Channon, Minister for Trade.

Sir Hugh Rossi

asked the Prime Minister what advice is given by Government Departments to inquiries from would-be investors in, or traders with, the northern part of Cyprus.

The Prime Minister

Potential investors and traders enjoy the same access to departmental advice in respect of northern Cyprus as for other overseas markets. The advice given depends on the nature of the inquiry and takes into account the complicated political circumstances existing in Cyprus.
