§ 38. Mr. Roweasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received advocating the introduction of measures to provide for stop orders in relation to his powers under section 29 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
§ Mr. WaldegraveRepresentations have been received from the Nature Conservancy Council, the Friends of the Earth, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and a number of individuals. These call for section 29 to be amended to provide(a) for the 12-month period for conclusion of an agreement to commence from the date of the order and(b) for an additional "holding" power to be introduced to prevent damage while a section 29 order application is under consideration. I am considering these representations.
