§ Mr. Canavanasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will publish in the Official Report all policy instructions from his Department regarding supplementary benefit claims by the dependants of striking miners.
§ Dr. BoysonAs I have explained in my replies to the hon. Member for Dunfermline, East (Mr. Brown) on 30 April [at column61] and on 8 May [at column 373] general guidance on the treatment of claims from strikers is contained in the S Manual. The chief adjudicating officer has also issued some notes of additional guidance and advice concerning the current miners' dispute. Copies of both are available in the Library. Because of their length, it would be inappropriate to publish all the relevant instructions in the Official Report.
