§ Mr. NewtonIf child benefit were increased in November 1984 by the same percentage as the increase in the single person's tax allowance in April 1984, the amount by which the benefit would rise would be 80p. If the increase was the same percentage as the increase in the married man's tax allowance, the amount of the rise would be 85p.
