asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the evaluation report on the computerised welfare benefits information system is yet available.

We have recently received the report of the Research Institute for Consumer Affairs, which was commissioned to evaluate the system. A copy has been placed in the Library of the House. RICA's findings are broadly encouraging, and we are studying its report with interest.
