Mr. Parris

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what assistance his Department has given to the Hong Kong experimental road pricing scheme; and what results he expects to receive from the experiment.

The scheme is being carried out by Transpotech Ltd, and my Department has provided two officers on secondment to Transpotech for its duration. There is no direct involvement by HM Government. The Hong Kong Government will pay the full cost of the project.

I would expect to learn of the results of the experiment, when it is completed, as part of the Department's normal liaison with the Hong Kong Government.
