HC Deb 11 June 1984 vol 61 c363W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many hours of overtime have been worked by employees in his Department in each of the last three years for which figures are available; and what was the total cost of this overtime work in each of those years.

Mr. Peter Walker

The figures for the last three financial years are as follows:

Hours Cost £
1981–82 28,026 121,722
1982–83 28,234 113,828
1983–84 30,772 147,824

The increase in hours worked as between 1982–83 and 1983–84 is more than fully accounted for by extra effort associated with the running of the Sizewell PWR inquiry.
