HC Deb 11 June 1984 vol 61 c384W
Mr. Hickmet

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the symptoms of the disease beat elbow he took into account when deciding whether to prescribe it as an industrial disease; and in what type of occupation it may be found.

Mr. Newton

Symptoms of "beat elbow" are that the elbow is swollen and painful, signs of deep inflamation set in and the swelling rapidly extends down the back of the forearm. It may be caused by manual labour involving severe or prolonged external friction or pressure at or about the elbow.
