§ Mr. Allan StewartThe Scottish Development Agency has a wide range of powers to assist rural areas throughout Scotland, and the Highlands and Islands Development Board operates similar powers within its own area. Further assistance is available through local authorities and other public bodies, and my right hon. Friend has no plans to introduce new rural development areas in Scotland.
