HC Deb 06 June 1984 vol 61 c185W
Mr. Meadowcroft

asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will list in the Official Report the numbers of Civil Service staff currently on secondment to nonprofit making organisations, divided into their employing Departments, showing how many are full-time, how many part-time and how many are within five years of their normal retirement date.

Mr. Hayhoe

Information in the form requested is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.

In 1983, 443 civil servants were seconded to organisations other than those operating on a commercial basis, such as regional health authorities, local authorities, international organisations, universities and colleges.

A breakdown of the figures by Department is given. Further details of secondments between the Civil Service and outside organisations in 1983 are contained in a report produced by the Management and Personnel Office, copies of which are available in the Library of the House.
