§ 34. Mr. Kenneth Carlisleasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps he is currently taking to liberalise trade in services in the European Community.
§ Mr. ChannonThe Government continue to take every opportunity both in the Council of Ministers and in meetings with Ministers of other member states to press for liberalisation of services; and are taking an active part in Community discussions on proposals about freedom of insurance services, about introducing greater competition into civil aviation and abolishing quota restrictions on freight haulage.
We are also intervening in support of the Commission actions before the European Court of Justice about the nonlife co-insurance directive.
