§ 62. Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he is satisfied with the working of section 1 (Employee Involvement) of the Employment Act 1982.
§ Mr. GummerSection 1 of the Employment Act 1982 requires Companies Act companies with more than 250 employees to describe action taken during the year to introduce, maintain or develop arrangements for employee involvement. It applies to annual directors' reports for financial years starting on or after 1 January 1983, so reports for relevant financial years are only now beginning to appear. I will take a close interest in these reports and will expect employers to take the opportunity offered to review and, where necessary, improve their existing arrangements for employee involvement.
